Founded in 1963, Starfish Family Services is a nonprofit human services agency, recognized as a champion for children and families across metro Detroit who have limited access to essential resources such as education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Impacting nearly 4,000 children and their families annually, we provide high-quality programs and support services that focus on early childhood education and development, behavioral health wellness, and empowered families. Through our family-centric, integrated approach, we build trusting relationships with parents and caregivers to connect them to the right resources at the right time.
Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) is Michigan’s largest public education system. It is governed by a locally elected, seven-member board with Dr. Nikolai Vitti serves as the second longest standing appointed superintendent. The District’s mission is to educate and empower every student, in every community to become their best self and build a stronger Detroit. The U-M Marsal School is a top-ranked, public school of education located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The school’s two-fold mission is 1) to study and improve education practice, policy, and the contexts of teaching and learning and 2) to prepare a diverse group of education practitioners, policy-makers, and researchers who will contribute to building equitable and just educational opportunities. Established in 2018, the Marygrove Conservancy is a nonprofit organization that manages operations and stewards the 53-acre Marygrove College campus in northwest Detroit. The mission of the Conservancy is to stabilize and preserve the historic campus which has served as an educational anchor in Detroit for more than 90 years while identifying high-quality uses in the community.
